Skype Launches Skype 4.0 For Windows

Skype has released version 4.0 for Windows now includes full-screen video calls and better call quality.

"Video calling has become a very popular way for people to communicate online," said Mike Bartlett, director of product strategy for Skype.

"Whether it’s saying hello to your daughter in college or reading a book while your child is away on business video calls allows you to have conversations that really make a difference, and it feels almost as good as be there. "

Skype has added a new built-in bandwidth manager that allows users to have a better experience of video calls, including one in connection with low bandwidth. The company has improved the quality of the call with a new audio codec that uses 50 percent less bandwidth than before.

Skype has also added new TAB Talks to help users keep track of multiple conversations in one place and allow them to spend their preferred method of communication. Skype users can see two different views. View default has everything in one window and Compact View allows users to talk to each in separate windows.

"The combination of feedback from tens of thousands of users in the last two years of development has enabled us to create a truly incredible experience that puts the emphasis on bringing people together even when they are continents apart," said Bartlett.
